Custom Logo Hat Liners: How the Proof and Order Work

Custom hat liners with your own logo are the easiest way to make a hat feel like it came from your shop. Hat makers and brands ask us the same questions before ordering, so here is the whole process in one place: the two ways to put a logo on satin, what to send, how the proof works, and what happens after you order.

Two ways to put your logo on a liner

Classic Foil stamps your logo in gold, silver, black, blue or red foil on one of our satin colours. It is the traditional hat shop look and works best for a logo, a name or a monogram. Atelier Print puts any picture, pattern or colour across the liner, so a photo, an all-over pattern or a brand colour that is not on the chart all go the Atelier Print route. Both are made on the same satin, about 4.75 inches tall.

What to send us

A logo file is all we need to start. A vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) gives the cleanest foil stamp; a high resolution PNG or JPG works for print. Tell us the satin colour from our chart, or send a screenshot or Pantone if you want a colour we do not stock. If you are not sure about any of it, order anyway and say so in the notes. We sort out the details with you after the order, nothing has to be decided before checkout.

Nothing to prepare before you order

There is nothing to buy or decide before checkout. Order the liners, and we work out the design with you afterwards: every order gets a proof of your liner before production, with one round of changes included, and you approve it by email. Many customers order once this way and then simply reorder.

The proof and revisions

Every custom order includes a proof and one round of changes, so you see the logo placement, size and colour before anything is stamped or printed. Further revision rounds are $15 each. Sign off by email and production starts.

Head sizes

Liners are made to your hat sizes. The number of sizes included depends on the order quantity, and every extra size beyond that is $25. Give us the split you need, or tell us to split it evenly. If you make hats in one size only, one size is all you need.

Piping and extras

Piping around the top of the liner, in any colour from the satin chart, is $0.50 per liner. On Atelier Print orders a foil logo can be stamped on top of the printed background for a small extra charge, and a second colour combination on a Classic Foil order is an extra too. All of it is listed on the product page so there are no surprises.

Turnaround

Most orders ship within three weeks. In busy seasons allow four to six weeks. If you have a date to hit, tell us when you order and we will say honestly whether we can make it.

Our promise

If we got something wrong, even on a custom liner, we remake it at no cost. Custom hat liners are a small part of your hat but the part every customer sees when they take it off, so we would rather redo it than have it wrong.

What to send: the artwork

Send the best file you have. In order of preference: a vector file (SVG, AI, EPS, or PDF with the logo as outlines), then a high-resolution PNG with a transparent background, then any PNG or JPG at least 1000 pixels wide, then a clean photo of the logo on paper or on a hat. A vector scales to any liner size with clean edges, and for a foil stamp it is the file we work from directly.

If all you have is a small web image, send it anyway and say so. We can usually redraw a simple mark, and we will tell you before we start if it needs redrawing rather than surprise you with it later.

Colours and matching

For Classic Foil, tell us the satin colour by its chart code from the colour card, and choose the foil: gold, silver, black, blue or red. For Atelier Print, send your artwork colours in whatever form you have them, a Pantone number, a hex code, a screenshot or a photo, and we match as closely as satin allows.

One honest warning about colour: screens shift between monitors, so what you approve on your laptop is not exactly what comes off the press. If the match is critical, ask for a physical cutting before the run and judge it in daylight.

Tell us about the hats

Two sentences about the hats help more than anything else: the felt or straw colour, and whether the liner will be seen from the top when the hat is turned over or mostly hidden behind the sweatband. A liner is always judged against the felt around it, so a logo that reads beautifully on a screen can vanish against a dark crown. Knowing that, we adjust the placement, the size and the piping to suit.

The full size range

Custom liners are made in head sizes from 51 to 68 cm, US 6 3/8 to 8 1/2, which is a wider range than our stock liners cover. The number of sizes included grows with the quantity you order, from one size on a small run up to five on a large one, and each size beyond that is $25.

You do not need the split at checkout. Give it on the design sheet afterwards, or ask for an even split across the sizes you sell. Mixed sizes in one order are completely normal, and if you make hats in one crown size only, one size is all you need.

Reordering

Once a design has run, reordering is one email: the quantity, any new sizes, and "same as last time". We keep the artwork and the approved proof on file, so a repeat order needs no files at all. Hat makers who reorder each season find this the easiest part of the process.

Personalized leather sweatbands

If you want the whole interior branded, your logo can go on the leather band as well as the liner. Personalized sweatbands are full grain, reeded with a synthetic wire in the edge like every band we sell, with your name or logo on the leather itself.

They are sold as a set of twenty-five, and the setup for your artwork is included in the price. Larger runs at bulk pricing, other leather colours, and matching custom satin liners carrying the same logo are all available on request. Order the set in the shop, then email your logo; vectorized artwork gives the cleanest result, and if you only have an image we will tell you honestly whether it will work.

Turnaround on bands is three to four weeks from approved artwork, and we do our best to beat three. They are made to order and ship from the USA. It is the cheapest branding a hat maker can buy, and it lasts as long as the hat.
