Red leather sweatband for hat making and hat repair, and the softest leather we carry. This is not a typical sweatband: the red hide is noticeably softer and more supple than a standard hat sweatband, so it settles against the forehead from the first wear with no break-in. About 25 inches long, roughly 1.7 inches wide and 1.2 mm thick, and reeded with a synthetic wire like all our bands, so it still lies flat against the crown and takes a stitch cleanly.
A bright red band is the classic choice inside a black or grey fedora and looks just as good in a western hat. Sew it into a new build or use it to replace a cracked, stained or stretched band and give an old favourite years more wear. It keeps sweat away from the felt, helps the hat hold its shape, and its softness makes it the band we recommend for anyone who finds ordinary sweatbands stiff.
