Every liner is about 4.75 inches (12 cm) tall and made to fit most crown styles. Fitting takes a minute: place it in the crown, trim the excess if you like, then tuck about half an inch behind the sweatband. Which size should I order?
Start with 58 cm (US 7 1/4). If you are holding one size only, this is the one that covers the most hats: right for medium and large, and it will still go into a small hat.
For proper coverage, hold three: 56 cm (US 7) medium, 58 cm (US 7 1/4) large, 60 cm (US 7 1/2) extra large.
Small hat (54 or 55 cm, US 6 3/4 or 6 7/8)? Our liners run a little small, so the 56 cm medium fits a 55 and a 54 hat with no problem. That is why most of our liners start at medium.
Going up adds coverage. Going down loses it quickly. A liner that is too small does not reach the sweatband, so it pulls against the crown and lifts away. A liner that is a little too big is not a problem, because the extra takes up as soft fullness behind the sweatband where nobody sees it. It stops looking crisp only when you go far bigger than the hat.
